Good work on the fix. I have Fumoto valves on both my Chevy Colorado and Toyota/Scion XB. Another great thing about Fumoto valves is that a short piece of flexible plastic tubing can be slipped over its outflow end and inserted directly into a milk jug or similar container for recycling, no drain pan needed. Makes a messy job very sanitary. The only down side is the slower rate of draining, so give yourself a few extra minutes to allow the oil to drain out of the engine.
Yup, I've got a Fumoto on my truck and that extra drain hose makes oil changes super clean and easy. You are right about needing a little extra time, which is just fine... allows me to spend a few minutes "straightening up the garage" (er.. enjoying a cold snack.) Thanks for watching!
Make sure you put the protective cap on the valve opening, not just the lock. Road debris gets in the ball valve and is what eventually kills fumoto valves.
@AmplifyDIY I've never made the adapter but have ran a fumoto valve on several vehicles. Splitting the cast pan would have been my biggest concern...seen cylinder blocks cracked when holes werent tapped deep enough.
NASA space engineer here, I approve of the repair.
Good enough for NASA is definitely good enough for me. :)
"Guten tight." Haha! Well played. And nice job on the mod.
Thanks!

Have you ever had to build a part to solve a problem like this? Did it hold up over time?
Ugga Dugga strikes again. Thanks for the helpful video! Great tips!

And keep the release tab pointed up on the cover so it doesn't catch wind or debris and pop off.
Excellent tips, thank you! There is also an under-tray that gets installed under the whole front end, which also adds a measure of protection. Thanks!
Great Fix! But for safety sake don't stay under the car while running. You can spot leaks after.
I appreciate the tip. Thanks for watching!
Mechanical engineer here...I'd approve it and monitor.
That's a great vote of confidence. Thank you!
